Accolades for Gone, But Never Forgotten
If you check out Glows excellent Gone, but Never Forgotten and dismiss it as sounding like Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, or any other down-tuned heavy act that goes well with bong hits and beer, thats your loss. Because past whatever similarities there are with, well, who the fuck cares, is some thoroughly awesome doom metal, straight from the 70s.
Glow does have considerable distorted crunch but they dont let that get in the way of a good groove. Even the slower songs, like opener Stone Circle and the Hammond-infused, funeral dirge-jam Seasons, Glow makes music that makes you move. Youd have to be pretty jaded not to dig those songs. What also works for Glow is the singer. Ralph has a clean, powerful voice that meshes well with the music, especially when hes wailing out those drawn out high notes. It gives the band a sound not too dissimilar from the likes of Las Cruces or Spiritu. Glows Gone, but Never Forgotten points out that the greats of the past never fade away when theres a new generation to carry the flame.
