Accolades for
Se Hace por los Suenos Asesinos

The first track is a big departure for Corrupted, as it's entirely acoustic! Never thought I'd hear that. Layered, down-tuned acoustic guitars and rumbling, bassy vocals droning out lyrics in Japanese. They actually create some neat melodies and the track works quite well. It would be interesting to hear more of these sludge/doom bands trying stuff like this. The last two songs are more in the style we are used to seeing from Corrupted... Slow, grinding sludge-doom that we all know and love from these guys, with the lyrics back to Spanish again.

The first track (the acoustic one) is pretty damn creepy, spare and acoustic with grumbled vocals. Not "heavy" yet still most doomful. The second track is what you would typically expect to hear from Corrupted: slow, heavy, and punishing. The third track moves along at a (for Corrupted) brisk pace.

This CD is another amazing effort from a band who have defined their own sound, yet are still able to explore the possibilities and develop it to incredible heights. The last two numbers are typical Corrupted - painfully loud and slow, with roaring grizzly-bear vocals (lyrics in Spanish for no reason whatsoever, as per usual). However, the real musical coup is reserved for the first song. As painfully quiet as the rest of the album is loud, with gently strummed acoustic guitars wrenching out the most poignant of minor chords, whilst words (in Japanese this time) are sung in the lowest, most exposed, soporific manner possible. Absolutely heart-stoppingly depressing and beautiful.
