Accolades for Gasoline
Countach play straight forward, no frills, riff-centric rock and roll. These guys offer a lot of different sounds on this album like Fu Manchu and COC circa Deliverance and America's Volume Dealer for starters. By the end of the album, Countach wander into doom territory with an instrumental track called "Iceage" that I can't get outta my head. At the end of the song, you've got a good minute of feedback to get you nice and spaced out, then right when you get used to it, there's what sounds like a mix between a gunshot and someone busting a window. First time I heard it I was driving on a highway and I hit the breaks so hard I almost got plowed by a semi-truck! This is a killer album, indeed. The last thing I ever would have heard is a short but sweet low-fi acoustic jam. There's really not a filler track on this CD. Its just all catchy, driven, groovy rock and roll.
Gasoline owes as much to southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers as it does to Sabbath and Soundgarden. The resulting combination is a blend of southern stomp and modern crunch akin to Corrosion of Conformity or Black Label Society.
The music is a melting pot of metal, stoner, southern and straight up rock 'n' roll comaprable to Corrosion of Conformity, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, and Thin Lizzy
