Accolades for Super Sound Racing
Hailing from Seattle, the four-piece have reissued their first two albums, Flat Tracker and Super Sound Racing and, you know what, theyre still hellish nasty. Theyre a middle-finger fuck you to the modern generation of rock fans and bands. They sound like Motorhead and MC5 on a cocktail of drugs that would send even hardened druggies to their grave.
Originally released on Scooch Pooch Records in 1995, Super Sound Racing tears ass out of the starting gate with unstable breakneck punk celebrating cars, drugs and occasionally, chicks. To this day, Blind Marky Felchtones grizzled yowl leaves steaming skidmarks while the instruments careen into each other with manic energy siphoned from the gas tank of a 69-cylinder Camaro. A promising doozy of a debut.
A shotgun marriage of punks get-up n go sneer with rock-n-rolls down and dirty side, Zekes early material is the stuff of legend. The music is less songs than stripped down, juiced up blasts of adrenaline stuffed with drill-sergeant vocals, break-neck drumming, and blistering solos. There is no fluff and no margin for error, just relentless energy and maximum attitude. Like a giant middle finger in the face of fashion, Super Sound Racing exhibits all the full-throttle, fast-n-furious rock action that is Zekes calling card.
