Accolades for Let Us Prey
This is a master stroke from Electric Wizard. The album is pretty atmospheric, and their sound has progressed somewhat from Dopethrone, but they're still heavy, still fucked up, and still pissed off. Fucking great stuff.
These guys live on another fucking planet. Sure, you may see them in the same room as yourself, or playing up on stage, but they really aren't there. That is the only way I can possibly explain the sounds on this fucker...no ordinary human(s) could possibly whip this up. First, the basics. This is not Dopethrone. The production is, well, "more". It is not a 50-ton jackhammer beating you over and over again. This is tighter, with much greater pysch elements. The vocals are distorted, but are less of a focal point, with some instrumental songs and long passages with no vox...and if you thought "We, The Undead" was different, wait until a certain later track comes along...your head will explode. I don't like saying "this is the best thing ever" right out of the gate (though I have been guilty...), but it very well could be.
