Accolades for Split CD
Greatdayforup stand a good chance of cornering the market on crunch-heavy hard rock. Theyre a meld of Helmet, Milligram, Rebreather, and (briefly) Slayer, topped with melodic vocals. As for Solace, this is the first new recording with the new drummer and second guitarist. Of their three songs, only one is an original, "Cement Stitches" which is about as direct and mean as the ugly end of a claw hammer to the back of the head. The Solace/Greatdayforup split is a win-win investment. Youre getting two distinct styles of heavy, and each track is a standout. If you only know one of the bands, youll be impressed with the other. And if you havent heard either band, six songs later youll be better off.
Everyone is familiar with the awesome rock goodness of Solace, but relatively few realize the ass-kickin' rockitude of Greatdayforup. Hopefully this split will open some eyes and ears to the phenomenal rock-o-riffic sensation.
This is so heavy. If your into Rebreather, Acrimony, and Starchild then Greatdayforup will be a perfect fit. Solace is one of my favorite bands and I couldn't wait to hear some new material from them, as usual they deliver some heavy shit.
