Accolades for Split 7 inch
High on Fire's song appears on their album, Blessed Black Wings, but taken out of the context of the album and sided against the Ruins it changes the perspective of the song. You're given the chance to soak in Brother in the Wind with ample time afterwards to think about how you were just laid out by just one song.
The Ruins are a bass and drums duo from Japan who have been around in one form or another for longer than I can remember. They offer up Gwodhunga, a schizophrenic mathy mover with indecipherable lyrics. The structure is all over the place as the duo jumps around from scheme to scheme as expected, but unlike some of their other work, the song ends with full closure.
