LOW GRAVITY CIRCUS - Dynasoar

LGC have been playing concerts close to Luxembourg for a very long time, but somehow I never managed to catch them live. One reason may be that I am not that much of a stoner rock fan, although Dynasoar is a mini-album that works rather well with me. Recorded about 3 years ago, and released a year later on a small independent label, you get 25 minutes of dynamic stoner rock. The first chords of the opener Hellrockbaby sound suspiciously like an old Manowar tune, with the strong bass line, although LGC are a pure and true rock band with no metal ingredients. Where many more popular stoner bands always came with too much of a clean and clear sound, the rawer production here gives more justice to the spirit of stoner rock. Especially the fuzzy guitars have a very psychedelic component, as if Blue Cheer and Vanilla Fudge decided to team up with Kyuss and QOTSA to sound like early Monster Magnet.

You may well ask if there is much sense in reviewing a mini-album that's already so old, but then it might just be like buying a good wine, letting it mature in the cellar for a couple of years before finally opening the bottle. Yes, Dynasoar passed the test of time with flying flags, with especially the two first songs convincing with faster than usual songwriting and a downright dirty attitude that later on was so rare with stoner b
ands.

LOW GRAVITY CIRCUS - Dynasoar

Low Gravity Circus is another hopeful band from Germany. Some underground-supporter will know some of the members from ADRENALIN 42 and you will find Charlie from Monster Zero Records in that band. And I`m really surprised. This band will have a big future! The opener HELL ROCK BABY is a great groover with an excellent hookline. TRIP 42 rocks on fast and TRANSFORM reminds me to the mighty Dozer. Every song is great, but PLANET WHEEL is really outstanding. Only guitars and vocals (only at the end a big groove entering) – Killer!!!!

You will find fuzzed out guitars, great melodies, great songs and a good singer. This is nothing new, but very very good. If you need a comparison – take the guitars from Dozer and Nebula, mixed with the sound of the old Queens and not typical vocals. If you love the mentioned bands, you can`t do anything wrong with Low Gravity Circus.

I think they will release a great debut soon! And I`m happy to see them on stage soon! The most hopeful german Stoner Rock band in my eyes.

Low Gravity Circus – Dynosoar Demo CD
Label: Monster Zero Records
Respekt, Respekt!!!

These Teutonic tigers used to be known as Adrenaline 42. There have been some personnel changes, and the A42 moniker was dropped in favor of Low Gravity Circus. Which is one of those names that probably required a lot of thought on the part of the band. Like "What's a name that sounds cool and no one will have a clue what the hell we are talking about?!".

That aside, I love this album. The Gemanic groove is some of the best out there. Calamus, UGH! and the mighty Colour Haze are all testament to that fact. That is some kinda groove with some kind of imagination. Low Gravity Circus is no slouch in this department. Mighty grooves meet big riffs and big voice to create a sound that is highly dig-able. Kyuss is still the touchstone here, but the influence is barely discernible as the boys add there own legacy to the Hall of Stoner.

Adrenalin 42 comes from the ever-growing rock country of Germany. This six-track demo, titled “Dynasoar” is exactly what the word means, a thick ball-tearing blend of very cool desert thunder mixed with low-end cruise control. Adrenalin 42 have to date, done a couple of demos, 7’ released on Monster Zero records and featured on compilations, such as Burned down to zero (daredevil records) and sacred groove (Monstruo de Gila). Dynasoar is by far their best effort yet, with some really great dusty tracks full of groove and low-end fuzz. It would be easy to say these guys dig the mighty KYUSS and say “ on no not another clone” But I think these guys have a different direction and some truly ballsy riffs that make up for any slight similarities to KYUSS.

Adrenalin 42 have a vibe more so similar to Dozer and Colour Haze, in fact Steffan of Colour Haze helped out in this groove layered demo, which really shows. Stand out tracks on “Dynasoar” are Niob Pill with its great middle section of full blown fuzz riffage and Soul strip a more cruisy laid back smooth number with plenty of cool little licks and fills.

Definitely check out this band if you want to hear some good desert fuzz roll! Hopefully adrenalin 42, will get a deal along the way and get things really moving for the band, great stuff keep it smokin’.
