Accolades for MMIII
This 5 song EP is packed with one pummeling song after another. Vocals are over the top screaming hardcore style and the drummer lays down the law. I especially like how the guitars will go from punishing power chords to a crazy single note picked chord progression. These guys have the changes down pat. If you are like me and have the attention span of a 3 year old kid and dig music that is fit for a musician that likes lots of changes, then definitely do yourself a favor and check out Shamelady. Fans of Dazzling Killmen, Today is the Day and Dillenger Escape Plan will absolutely love this album...again, not for the timid. I'm filing this one right next to Face of Collapse.
Drawing influence from bands like Engine Kid and Bloodlet, comes a new beauty in the form of a dark cloud. Shame on them for being so damn heavy and powerful. Think: a prisoner-blessing, angel-driven tank changing gears in quicksand.
MMIII is the first release from Portland's Shamelady. Made up of five unrelentingly beautiful tracks, MMIII is sure to affect all who hurt and all who love. The three members of Shamelady write for themselves, first and foremost, bleeding and sweating each note. The result is as believable and as honest as a blade of grass growing through concrete; the dicotomy of natural beauty and man-made hideousness. With vast ranges of personal influence, each member brings his own technique and flavor to the mix making this release unmistakably and uniquely Shamelady. This is music made for the souls of earth, for the darkened landscapes that trouble minds, and for the faith that - although it will get worse before it gets better - it will get better. Take a chance and be overwhelmed.
