Nice work, Mr. Red.

I'm a little jealous of your comprehensive list. For the Chicago list I did leave off most shows that aren't heavy, like Robert Plant, etc. Your knowledge of bands is way broader than mine so I'm sure I'm leaving off shows that should be on my list simply because I don't know the bands.

I throw a lot of stuff on there that I'm not super-familiar with too. Stuff that's been recommended or bands that have played with bands that I like. Any Facebook invite I get goes on there. Most of my Facebook friends are musically inclined people, so it adds up to a good list.

I also throw some stuff off that I think is total horseshit. I try not to add cover bands, although I DO enjoy the occasional cover band. I generally think it's regressive to support cover bands when there are new artists out there busting their humps attempting to build an audience for themselves. The line between cover band and some original bands is definitely blurred today though, as evidenced by the stoner-rock, post-metal, doom-metal and "Cascadian" black metal scenes I've witnessed come and go over the last 20 years.

Nice list.

Looking into planning a trip for the last week in September and have been looking at Portland, Seattle or Minneapolis.  Seeing Mudhoney there got me excited, only saw them once before but a favorite band from back in the day and when I did see them it was one of the best shows i have been to, but looks like that show is sold out.

Can't win them all I guess.

Adam, I wouldn't let that sold out status concern you too much. People always end up selling their tix a day or two before. BTW, I'll be in Portland the night of 9/30 and 10/1. Mr. Red and I hoping to connect. Keep us posted on your plans.

I made the executive decision this week to head to Seattle the weekend of 9/28-9/30. It'll be the last weekend of the year in MLB and the Mariners will be playing the Rangers. I'm gonna hit the Friday game, so see Mudhoney on Saturday and then see the Sunday game, which MLB mandates all games that day (last day of the season) start at noon Pacific.

So Adam, there are still tickets left for the Mudhoney show in Seattle. I just bought one. It's at the Neptune Theater and tickets are sold through Ticketmaster. If you decide to hit Seattle that weekend, I could play somewhat a tour guide. I'm giving up my Mudhoney ticket for the Portland show, but it's already spoken for right now. If that changes (I'm meeting the gal tonight), I'll let you know.

And Carol, I will probably be able to get back at a reasonable hour on 9/30. I toyed with the remaining weekend series in Seattle for the rest of the year and this is the one that truly works for me the best. Also, it's worth gambling that if Mariners win some kind of home field in the playoffs, either the Wild Card or Division, I'll stay up there for a couple of days to check that out. I'm not sure what's going to be happening with my work schedule, but my current assignment should be ending around that time, so I'm hoping my schedule is flexible around this time. Doesn't look like the home field will be happening, but they're playing well right now and Cano comes back in a month, which should give them a shot in the arm. We'll see.

Thanks for the further info, Red.

Unfortunately, my work schedule is Sunday through Thursday so I return to work September 30th, so that Mudhoney show in Seattle wont work. Otherwise, I would have probably done Seattle. Could have  done Mudhoney, Jesus Lizard and a Mariners game.  Still might do Seattle so I can get some baseball in, but would do the first half of the week.

Bummer man. Somehow miraculously, most of the shows I'm interested in this Summer are weekend gigs, so I'm seeing stuff most weekends from here through the end of September, but none of them (outside of MELVINS in a couple weeks, which is also sold out) really qualify as stoner rock, or at least worthy of traveling for.

The timing of my PTO requests have not played nice with concerts in general. I'm also getting some time off in August and all the shows of interest don't fall in line with that time off either.  But I'll survive. Breweries and hiking are always available and I can always refocus on baseball, so all is not lost.  But would have been nice to have been able to mix in a concert (or two)...and Mudhoney/Jesus Lizard would have been a great combo.
