Accolades for Thirty Pieces of Silver
Thirty Pieces of Silver crafts a sound that falls somewhere between "the soundtrack to the end of all existence" and "Lucifer: The Musical". Not too many bands could get away with starting off a rock album with an instrumental. Devil To Pay not only does it, but does it with a tune that sets the tone for a disk that's heavy, thick, incredibly sharp and powerful. All the tracks have something in common: they feel viscous. From the slow and plodding "The Lamb" to the super-turbo charged "Angular Shapes", this album keeps you nodding your head with the beat and gritting your teeth in doom inspired happiness.
Heavy, profane and violent, Devil to Pay's music grabs you by the neck and forces bong hits down your throat. Even if you've never touched drugs, you'll feel loopy after one listen to this doom-rock group. With plenty of attitude, hooks and heavy lyrics, this group gives plenty of value for the entertainment dollar.
