  Bandcamp Recommendations 8/5/2010

Here we go once again with some more Bandcamp recommendations. Each album featured is either free or "Name your price." Whenever possible send a few dollars to the artist so that they can continue to record and bring you more music. Today we`re all over the world with one from the UK, two from the Netherlands, one form the US and one from Australia. In a previous Bandcamp post I recommended Trippy Wicked and the Cosmic Children of the Knight. Here is an acoustic set put out by the band. Bandcamp Download
Next is Barbarella. They are from the Netherlands. They play some fast paced stoner with a little space mixed in for good measure. <>The name Barbarella suggests a late sixties "love and peace" kind of vibe. Well, although the band may enjoy the occasional love escapade and definitely supports peace around the globe, their music sounds like modern times Rock n Roll. Bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep had a great influence, but even though the connection with the good old 60s and 70s hard rock is evident, theres more! Life didnt stop in 1977..s you know! So, theres punk, theres grunge, but most of all theres stoner. Mix all this together and you..ll know what Barbarella is all about: tight rhythm, heavy bass and strong riffs. True modern times Rock n Roll. This Ep contains 6 of the best tracks Barbarella has written during the first two years of Barbarella`s existence. They do have a single available for free download off of their upcoming album too. Bandcamp Download Nightsbride is next. They hail from Baltimore, MD and play a hard rock mixed with metal style rock. <>Nightsbridge is a high-energy, good time, metal band ready for the world! Originally formed in 2008 by founding members David Gregory and Spencer Sinnott, they have been writing and searching for the perfect powerful lineup. With the addition of frontman Ryan A. Fabian, guitarist Pete Fitzpatrick and bassist Wolfman, Nightsbridge are ready to rock! Nightsbridge writes so their fans will have an amazing time the very first time they hear the tunes, and are beyond excited to join Baltimore`s already solid rock community!
Now we go to the land down under to Adelaide for Tracer. They`re a hard rock/stoner band. This their 2006 3 track EP.
<>Forming out of the ashes of blues prodigy band The Brown Brothers in 2004, Michael (Vocals and guitar) and Leigh Brown (Vocals and Bass) teamed up with drummer Andre Wise to make Tracer. With a sound reminiscent of 90`s grunge/stoner rock mixed with the everlasting bravado of 70`s classic rock, Tracer is a driving, sonic sledgehammer of massive guitars, clever hooks and raw uncompromising vocals. After two years of gigging in their hometown of Adelaide, Tracer released their debut EP Into The Night (2007) and toured through regional South Australia, Melbourne and Sydney with airplay on community radios. During 2008 and 2009 Tracer took on an extensive touring schedule with multiple trips to Melbourne, a swag of successful Adelaide shows including a capacity crowd at the album launch for their second critically acclaimed album "L.A.?" "We wanted something that sounded international," said guitarist/vocalist Michael Brown, "so we spent a lot of time in pre-production and made sure that we didn`t cut any corners in the studio. The result is something that we`re all truly proud of".
50 Grams of Violence come from the Netherlands and offer you their 2009 EP for your enjoyment. It`s definitely stoner rock. A little down tuned and fuzzy. There`s some elements of post grunge and metal but it adds to their sound.
