First up on this split is the Truckfighters with their tuned down Pink Floyd/King Crimson psychedelic progressive fuzz rock songs. Intricate guitar work that goes from slamming power chords to delicate guitar doubled riff/leads and the whole band is right there, tight tight tight! Definitely give the Truckfighters a whirl - everything from Pink Floyd to Mammoth Volume in there.

Firestone is more of a driving desert rock outfit with big fat bass line based riffs and thick tones. Firestone has tuned down, fuzzed out guitars that just sound blistering loud. Songs definitely remind me of Unida and Kyuss, vocals are similar to the style of John Garcia. Get this one if you like anything desert rock related...fun, heavy and it just plain rocks.

This is a Fuzz-Split for sure. All they want is to worship the fat riff and I must say theyre doing it really good and partly damn psychedelic. This CD is definitely something for every Nebula, Lowrider or old Fu Manchu fan. So far the fuzziest CD I've heard this year besides Nebula's Atomic Ritual.

The flow on this disc is beautiful, with each of the bands 5 tracks intertwining to make one long fuzz filled ride. Seriously, I havent heard fuzz like this since early Dozer and the reclusive Lowrider. The Truckfighters are first up with a subdued, stoner groove much along the lines of Brant Bjorks. As the band progresses, the grooves get bigger and the fuzz gets stronger. One thing that strikes me right off the bat is the absolute killer drum production. Its got that When the Levee Breaks Zeppelin sound all through the bands 5 tracks. Also its got that and the Circus Leaves Town vibe to it. Firestone send the fuzz to the next level, concentrating more on up-tempo energy rather than the moody, melodic fuzz that Truckfighters offer up. They will have you rocking from the opening riffs that build into some cool, early QOTSA brand of fuzz. Firestones dynamic reaches new heights showing that they too can combine strong melodic components and bluesy guitar work with their penchant for fuzz.
