Accolades for South of the Border
South of the Border presents a more refined, polished Twin Earth. They still have that same style of fuzzy guitar sound and busy angular desert influenced riff style as before, just one notch better. Vocals aren't just along side their 'can't sit still' guitar style, it's more of a melodic sixties blues style painted right over the top. It's a rocker drenched in psychedelic and classic rock undertones. If you liked Mammoth Volume's Noara Dance then you will most certainly 'get' South of the Border.
It's a loose-groove-tight feel. Daniel Halen's drumming is juicy and spicy. Oscar's got one of my favorite, laid-back fuzzrock voices in this whole arena. His playing is inventive and swings like a sped-up pendulum. I strongly recommend this record if you liked the last one, Black Stars in a Silver Sky, or want to take a chance on something awfully gratifying. It's one cool record, guys.
