Accolades for Today`s Song for Tomorrow
This is psychedelic garage rock with a snotty punk attitude and an appreciation for the heavy. Theres a fair amount of Iggy and the Stooges to Lord Sterling you can hear the sneer in vocalist Robert Ryans singing. But on top of this, there are also shades of Masters of Reality, Cream, and The Doors. These influences are more apparent on the mellower songs. Also important to Lord Sterlings sound is the use of eclectic instruments. The credits read like the inventory sheet at a music shop. These help build a rich, deep sound to the tracks. Lord Sterling definitely offer something different from the fuzz and doom out there. Todays Song for Tomorrow is required listening for anyone with an appreciation for psychedelic rock that touches upon the greats.
If you are a fan of Monster Magnet, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and MC5, then you will love Today's Song for Tomorrow. Slow bluesy riffs give way to spaced out bliss before coming back hard and in your face wirth heavy dirges that would make Kyuss proud.
