Accolades for ...Ruin Everything
A low down bit of Uriah Heep, a bit of Grand Funk, add in some Delta slide blues with a blue collar and sideburned nod to '50s flavored punkabilly and nasty lyrics about fucking your girlfriend, burning bridges, and never looking back. These are the joys of Velcro Lewis and His 100 Proof Band on their full-length release, Ruin Everything. They dig deeper into the vault of '70s rock glory than most, and any comparison to the current leagues of stoner gods is purely coincidental.
If you enjoy getting wracked up on booze, youll enjoy the good comfort this album brings. This is low-down, dirty, skid row debauchery. If you have The Doors Morrison Hotel, think of the inner sleeve photo. Down and out derelicts boozin it up at a ratty old bar. This is what this album is about! From the strength of Velcros commanding voice to the shuffle boogie that the 100 Proof Band lays down. The band is really tight in a disheveled, drinkin blues sort of way. And to even label the licks and riffs they throw off as blues is a disservice to the band. Theyve managed to reinvigorate tired old chords and they add an element that is rarely witnessed today ORIGINALITY.
Velcro Lewis and His 100 Proof Band are like a backyard kegger gone completely wrong. Fuckin' gritty dirty loud obnoxious rock!
