Accolades for Better You than Me
High Tone's sound is a good familiar sound reminiscent of bands like Kyuss and Dozer. Driving fuzzed out tuned down guitar rock with soulful strong vocals right up front. I have seen these guys live and can attest to that. Heavy drug drenched ripping sludge stoner rock with good vocal and riff hooks. Nothing new, just good driving stuff done right. Get this one if you are into everything from Kyuss to Sleep and everything in between. In all fairness there are enough changes and tempo stalls to make it a cut above the ordinary...file this one near John Garcia projects...the vocals are definitely in that same vein- Rock!
High Tone Son of a Bitch's two guitarists are brothers who share a rich aesthetic of wondering, driving dual guitars, pummeling riffs and angular hooks. The band has been described as reminicent of "classic" heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy. Others liken HTSOB to "stoner rock" legends Kyuss, while more than a few comparisons have been drawn to early "doom metal" bands like Trouble, Sleep and of course, Black Sabbath! High Tone Son of a Bitch features seminal members of Christ on Parade, Grinch, A Minor Forest, Medication and Cuervo! Better You Than Me also features a guest synth/noise performance by Dave Edwardson of Neurosis! And, last but not least, KILLER production by Alex Newport (Melvins, At the Drive in, Etc).
