Accolades for Reason to Live
E-N-E-R-G-Y!!! GOD DAMN THIS ALBUM IS ALIVE! You ever put on an album and just know right away its gonna kick your ass halfway to Sunday to the point that youre actually waiting to be let down buy filler tracks? Well thats whats happening to me right now as I listen to Reason To Live.
The strength here is the *energy*. This slab is all about power. There are a couple of mellow moments, which to me almost play like interludes, 'cause we wouldn't know heavy was heavy if we didn't have mellow. So they give us a little mellow here and there, and then bring back the heavy. And Christ, is it heavy. This is without doubt the meanest, loudest, most powerful Blues album I've ever heard. And hats off to Dan for giving vocalists everywhere a level of passion in his voice that we must all aspire to.
Sixty Watt has a super fierce sound on par with the driving force behind Orange Goblin. Blues based with classic rock feels...hard riffs and more energy than a big block V-8. Every song on this CD is full on all the time, relentless... ruthless if you will. It's got it all...everything from classic rock to MC5 to AC/DC to the desert, absolutely drenched in talent. This CD just jumped up the ladder to my top 10 list of releases this year...it's a great CD that will get many, many a repeated plays on my stereo. Get this one if you like balls out energy rock done right.
