HALF MAN vs MOTHERCAKE Vol 1
Split EP 7" (BORDER)
8.5/10

This is an interesting combo, two bands who apart from being from the same country, which is Sweden do not have a lot in common. And I think that is why this split 7" works so well. This release will definitely help broaden the fan base of both bands and introduce some variety to fans of Half Man and Mothercake.

Half Man introduced themselves to us with their album "The Complete Field Guide For Cynics" which was a fine piece of bluesy rock with a slight psychedelic feel. The two tracks on hear pick up where that CD left off, Red Herring is an awesome track played with plenty of feel and the standard is maintained with Acid Park.

Mothercake are in your face rock n roll, the opening track Fists Of Fury is a beast that highlights the awesome vocal talents of Martin Ohlsson while they keep the fuel burning with their other contribution to this split Baglady. If you want a serve of rock Mothercake are here to deliver.

The Swedish rock scene seems like it is in a healthy state if this release is anything to go by. Half Man have been around for a long time and I feel this year may be a big one for them.
