You want soul, you got it. Completely not falling into any one category or another, The Rubes have managed to throw together a record of extreme complexity and soul/blues heavy rock. Dig a little deeper while listening to "Hokum" and you will hear that these guys are musicians that have a broad range of styles and are just plain top notch players that don't limit themselves to just "doom" or "blues" or the flavor of the weak. It's all straight from the heart and that is the main thing that seperates a great band like the Rubes from the rest as far as I am concerned.

This is a fantastic record. Been spinning it for months and it still kicks my ass every time. Modern classic rockers who aren't afraid to be metal and aren't too metal to just rock.

I'd put these guys in the same league as Mammoth Volume as far as their musical diversity goes. But The Rubes are much more Metal!
