Beyond the Mushroom Gate
Germany's biggest mushroom eaters got their start appropriately enough at a "Psychedelic Dance and Tea Party" event when main spore Willhelm Kucharzik (guitars, vocals) met with Anders Becker (organ/vocals) and Martin Konig (drums/percussion) and had a spontaneous space jam. The audience at the event turned into an interstellar embryo warping through a sparkling ocean of sound and thus the Mandragora Lightshow Society was born. Willehelm states that the name of the band came from a mushroom trip that he had out in the woods where a little man came creeping out of the ground whispering the words "Mandra" and "Gora". Lightshow Society was added to these words as Willhelm feels that the surrounding environment (psychedelic light show, incense, etc..) are all an equally important part of the psychedelic music show.
