Accolades for War & Wine
When you couple rock pigs such as Dean Berry from Iron Monkey, Chris Turner from Orange Goblin and former members of Acrimony you're guaranteed a punk rock cocktail of special brew, speed and a black eye. The Dukes Of Nothing are far from polished and that's where the charm lies in their uncompromising brand of Black Flag meets Motorhead leather-clad mayhem. Like Discharge in a knife fight with Agnostic Front before segueing into stoner rock territory. Considering the history behind this band, it comes as no surprise that this debut album from The Dukes Of Nothing rocks hard and although War & Wine may lack a degree of sophistication and diversity, this is honest balls out punk rock mayhem that deserves to heard by you all.
What you get with War & Wine is The Dukes Of Nothing's own testimony to pure rock 'n' roll: eight songs in 18 minutes of true rock 'n roll noise. Like a short, sharp punch to the head, The Dukes'll leave you stunned, not knowing what the fuck has hit you. It's five men's tribute to the bands that changed their lives. Thus War & Wine is a dirty concoction of punk, rock 'n' roll, country and pure full-on metal. And we're talking metal of the spikes and leather variety here, yes sir. Motrhead, GG Allin, Black Flag, Celtic Frost, all three generations of the Hank Williams dynasty, AC/DC, David Allen Coe all stand up and take a bow, for you are the people we have to thank for giving us The Dukes Of Nothing. Yes, three of them used to be Iron Monkey, yes, they borrow Orange Goblin's drummer (Chris Turner) and yes, they have a singer who barks like Lemmy.
Chock full of drunken rowdery and twofingersupateveryone attitood. I liken them to the Supersuckers on harder drugs and Scissorfight on speed.
