Accolades for Deliverance
I have used the expression 'a dual guitar assault' before. Hell, I may even have coined the expression. But, never has a band been more deserving of the title than Bionic. Described by Kerrang Magazine as "Queens of the Stone Age butt-fucking The Hellacopters with Bad Religion clapping along," the band is fronted by two of Canada's greatest guitar talents, Jonathan Cummins and Ian Blurton. These 'bearded wonders' should be familiar to those who are knowledgeable of 90s can-rock-Cummins was a long-time member of The Doughboys, and Blurton fronted Change of Heart. But the duo, alongside bassist Paul Julius and drummer Tim Dwyer, have banded together to form one of the tightest Canadian rock acts since Rush.
Deliverance is a powerhouse tour-de-force of top-notch song writing, killer hooks and ass-kicking riffs!! The variety of styles explored on this CD are truely refreshing and it's one of the most exciting CDs that has crossed my desk in a long time! Bionic take elements from Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Monster Magnet, Drunk Horse and even the Foo Fighters and churn them all together into a really cohesive record with tons of powerful energy and top quality songs! I really can't get enough of this CD - check out the MP3 and see for youself!
Bionic is a dual guitar outfit (featuring ex-Doughboys and Change of Heart members) that completely floored me from the beginning of this CD- right through to the end with their unique blend of high energy rock and stoner goodness. These guys remind me of everything from the Queens of the Stone Age, Hellacopters, AC-DC, MC5, Drunk Horse and more...it's really a mix of stuff, but the energy is always on full blast and the amps are always cranked.
