Recommending Sunn0))) to someone is akin to recommending black tar heroin. Deep down you know that no good will come of it, especially since nobody is really adequately physically and emotionally ready for how the band and its oppressive wall of sound will ravage you. In fact, I'd go so far as to say you have a moral obligation to tell people to stay the hell away from Sunn0))). And with their sixth album, Black One, they continue to descend into darkness with their droner than drone sound. This time, the core Sunn0))) unit of Greg Anderson and Stephen OMalley are aided by a couple of death metal crooners, and their addition takes the Sunn0))) sound to a lower, deeper, and bleaker level. This is psych ward ambience, the kind of music played inside ones head as the madness takes hold. If I were sitting on my kitchen floor, coming to consciousness and realizing Im covered in blood and surrounded by body parts, Id want this as my soundtrack.

You want to know whats the slowest of the heaviest of the heavy? Listen to Sunn0)))s Black One.
