As with all Molten Records releases this is a top shelf psychedelic rock record. Highly recommended to fans of Josiah, Baby Woodrose, On Trial and Liquid Sound Company.

The first half of the album shows that The Beginnings strength is in loosely arranged bluesy rock. The start of the CD offers classic rock grooves and fluid playing. At the halfway mark the bands jamming veers towards psychedelic noodling. By the time the CD ends, The Beginning have become more of a sonic jam band than anything else. Its hard not to get caught up in the bands energy. While their sound is distinctly from a bygone era, they still have an original sound and feel.

The Beginnning are one of the great lost wonders of psychedelic rock. Their only album This is... was forgotten and lay dormant until recently when it was uncovered by Molten Records. Now available for the first time, it contains a mind altering selection of acid guitar music mixing rock 'n' roll grooves with a twin lead guitar attack. Flashes of the ever-so-fluid San Francisco psychedelic improvisation merge with hard edged Detroit rock and hip stoned grooviness. The overall result is a sound that's part Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Yesterdays Children and Quicksilver Messenger Service.
