Accolades for Shit Bloody Shit
Portland, Oregon's Facedowninshit does an excellent job at blending the power of bands like His Hero is Gone with the sludge metal groove of Eyehategod. You can say this is a discography disc for people who didn't pick up the self released first LP and demo. I like the tracks on the first LP a lot because it's a bit more sludgy, and the dirty production makes it sound heavier. Lyrically this band is political as fuck, but can get very poetic at times. Wonderful debut label release from a band that is fairly new in the scene. Apocalyptic soundtrack for a doomed society.
A good, different take on the sludge genre.
These guys mix hateful crust-grind in the vein of Dystopia and His Hero is Gone and serve it up with the epic moving power of Neurosis and then finish off the mix with some pounding, Cavity-esque riff driven sludge that is also rooted in Sabbath and even Skynyrd. If you like sludge, grind, crust, doom... man, just about anything, you'll really enjoy this disc. It is truly epic in scope and there's something for just about everyone here. A masterpiece.
