Time and Withering is a trip into heavy prog metal, with the melodic, grandiose qualities of Pelican, the complex arrangements and depth of Isis, and the anguished vocals of Buried at Sea. As with Isis, Mouth of the Architect eschew traditional song structures. Theres no verse-chorus-verse simplicity here; instead they start with an intricate riff and let it unfold into whatever shape it wants to take. Everything flows. Additionally, the songs travel into mellower moments, giving them a deeper resonance and more emotional heft. Each track is akin to a journey, one well worth taking.
