Big Business is the newest band featuring Jared from Karp/The Whip on bass with Coady from the Murder City Devils on drums. Damn if this isn't the best band I have heard all year, I'll eat my mustache. Imagine standing at the bottom of a volcano, feeling the molten rock flow and rumble under the ground and then up the middle of the mountain to its final release of lava, black sky and sudden death. This CD is the audio equivalent, it's that powerful. The hooks and riffs of Karp are still there, but added is a more operatic approach to the vocal choruses, kind of like a choir made of classic monsters. Jared's vocals are commanding and lordly, somewhere between Buzz Osbourne and Leslie West, while Coady's barking adds to the hysterics. Needless to say, the songs are crushing but classically written. This EP is a wicked offering of limb-breaking rock. Get this CD now if you are a fan of Karp, The Whip, Melvins, Godheadsilo, Black Flag, or heavy rock in general.
