Accolades for Got Live if You Want it
Washington D.C. power trio Dead Meadow formed in the fall of 1998. From inception the three members, guitar-vocalist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille, and drummer Mark Laughlin set out to fuse their love of 70's hard rock ala Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Hawkwind and Black Sabbath with their own fantasy visions of strange lands as well as a good dose of punk energy and more recent influences such as Spiritualized and Bardo Pond. What they actually created is something even more esoteric than mere comparisons can conjure.
Thus far they've released two widely-respected albuums on Tolotta Records. They've done a Peel Session for the BBC and been invited to tour Europe in the near future. Earlier this year, they opened for The Brian Jonestown Massacre on the latest national tour, one result of which was the live recording which will be the first in the "Got Live If You Want It!" series from The Committee to Keep Music Evil.
