HISTORY

For the last five years, Rob and Cheryl Levey have put on one of the best underground rock and roll event/parties in the U.S. Each SHOD (Stoner Hands of Doom) has featured the best stoner rock, sludge, doom metal, and rock & roll bands from around the world. The festival is a 3-day holiday weekend that has taken place in Maryland, Ohio, Texas, and Arizona. Although Rob and Cheryl are following other pursuits now, their legacy lives on with SHOD V -- the FINAL Stoner Hands of Doom festival (unless others pick up the torch).

2003 - the Final SHOD will be in Portland, OR at Berbati's Pan. No less than 37 bands have been curated by local point man Nathan Carson (former drummer for Witch Mountain) with an afternoon dedicated to festival founder Rob Levey's handpicked choices. Friday is the day of ultimate doom with headlining sets from SUNN0))) and YOB. Saturday is dedicated to all things rock, with Porn (the Men Of) and Bottom providing the finale. Sunday night is all about the ladies--celebrating seven bands that contain women dedicated to making extreme music.

Stoner Hands of Doom is both a tradition, and a down to earth time. No bullshit. No corporate sponsorships. Just three dozen bands doing it for the right reasons, rocking their most dedicated fans from around the world. For more information about the bands, follow their links on the schedule page. For more information about the growing stoner rock community at large, please refer to STONERROCK.COM.

Thanks and stay doomed,

Nathan Carson
