Accolades for
Never Breathe What You Can't See

Honestly this is a new, HEAVIER Dead Kennedys. I praise the Melvins for keeping they're signature sound, only tweaking it to Jello's insane lyrical stylings and song writing. Updated, fresh and relevant for today. The Biafra written tunes are very Biafra like with weird changes, odd melodic parts and strange back-up vocals. Think later Dead Kennedys' albums like Bedtime for Democracy. The best tunes are the collaborations that were written by both the Melvins and Jello. They mix styles well and come up with some very interesting stuff. I'm sure fans of both artists will eat this right up. It's a great sour tasting candy making you pucker and smile at the same time.

The central figure on Never Breathe What You Cant See is Jello, no doubt about it. The punk attitude, political lyrics, quirkiness are all typical of him throughout his career in Dead Kennedys and arguably later endeavors. But at the same time Melvins shaped the music. The melody is not typically theirs, but the sound is. King Buzzo did some smart fine-tuning of the Melvinesque freak-out to Biafras straight punk antics. The result is so smooth that it makes you forget these guys just got together in a studio to record an album, hell, to me this sounds like a well established and seasoned band. Great chemistry!

The surprise is that Jello wrote heavy songs for the Melvins, while Buzzo walked in with punkier riffs for Jello. Part of these fall somewhere between Lard and the Biafra/D.O.A. album, while others sound like nothing any of 'em have done before.
