Accolades for Til the Livin End (White)
Zeke have always been known for their tear-ass approach to hard rock music. On 'Til The Livin' End, they seem to be striving to reign in that speed a little bit and apply a little more song craft and sonic symmetry to their aural attack. The guitar tone is way more metal than it is punk, which is very appealing to someone like myself who digs that really deep rich overdriven amp tone. The vocals are of the barked/shouted variety, but with a nice tenor rasp. This one is highly recommended for pretty much anyone with a passing interest in any hard rock beyond your standard issue AC/DC records.
Good Christ, this album RIPS. Zeke is known for their full-on intensity and raw punk sensibility. Blistering, whipsawing leads rip loose every 45 seconds as the rhythmn section pummels along like a Mack truck gone kamikaze. Almost sounds like Wino gone thrash. I bet anybody who likes Zeke, howling guitar, or rock that makes you wanna leap off an amp will dig this.
This thing is still pure, nasty, dirty, 100% rock n' roll. The guitars on this production seem thicker and heavier than earlier stuff. The songs are slowed down a bit, with more slowed down rockers. I always liked Zeke best when they went into their motorhead mode, so maybe that's why I like 'Til the Livin' End so much.
