Accolades for House of the Dying Sun
Santeria have a nice blended sound of Southern Rock, Delta blues mixed with psychedelia. I have always admired their trippy guitar rock, it's simple- to the point and well, just damn good.
I have heard Santeria's material in the past, but their latest 'House of the Dying Sun' takes the cake. It's a sonic landscape of sounds- reminds me of driving right through their home state, Louisiana... Swamps and old houses... This album has deep southern roots from beginning to end. The vocals are sweet and melodic, the guitars are layered, sometimes thick rhythms, sometimes slide. The production on this CD is also top notch and everything can be heard clearly. It's definitely a blues guitar record with classic influences. It reminds me of the Allman brothers at times, other times it can remind me of Alice in Chain's 'SAP' EP (especially 'Laredo'). It's hard to pinpoint their sound really. Some of their stuff is acoustic with vocals, some of it just plain rocks. It's all pretty medium tempo stuff with a classic country/blues flare...that much is obvious.
