This is the second album from this elite gathering, and it is a jewel. Dandy Brown (Hermano) was extremely successful in creating an emotional and soulful record with the help of his impressive circle of friends, including Pete Stahl (Earthlings?, Goatsnake) and Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson). The uses of trumpet, piano and latin percussion give the album the feel of summer, and the longer you listen, the more stylistic similarities you'll hear to Chris Goss' work with Masters of Reality, both musically and in its production. A stylish acoustic cross between desert rock, salsa and blues.

If you like the first Orquesta release, then don't even hesitate to get this one. The sound and basis are the same, just these songs are more developed and better in my opinion. This album has its fair share of acoustic guitars and background vocals. There really are a lot of layers...horns, pianos, the works. Some of the songs rock out as well, but for the most part it's very acoustic based guitars. Check out Orquesta del Desierto if you appreciate the finer things in life and top notch musicianship.

From beginning to end, this is an absolutely beautiful collection of songs. No it's not of the usual stoner rock flair, but beyond that and still at times in the same vein. These aren't songs that seem to be bred from heavy distorted rock, but from something older and at times from a place beyond rock. This CD is essential to anyone who loves the bands that are talked and written about on this site because it fuels the argument that the people who visit here can't be pigeon-holed. This is a great CD, a beautiful CD, and a must for any collection.
