Accolades for
Daze of the Underground
I found that a lot of these songs were done quite tastefully and you can tell that some of these bands really truly idolize Hawkwind. One thing I noticed about this compilation is that there are a lot of synth and space effects constantly throughout the albums. Most of the bands put their own twist and take on the song which can only be expected. I do hear a lot more of the space rock aspects coming out of these bands that you don't usually hear with their sounds. This one is for the true Hawkwind fan that already has it all...but of course anyone can pick it up. I am more of a purist and figure that if you are going to start somewhere, you should start with the originals and see where that takes you. Hawkwind is definitely one of the more deserving and long overdue for a proper tribute compilation, one of the true originators of what we call Stoner Rock. Sabbath had the doom, but Hawkwind had the space.
