Half Man (Swe)
- The Complete field guide for cynics
Time to travel into the golden era of the late 60s/early 70s with a new strong
name of the swedish heavyrock scene - Half Man that have made a stunning debut
album. Like The Quill Half Man have struggled on for years until they finally
got the break with the release of this album last year along with the split
release with Mothercake that came out after this one.
The album The complete field guide.. is a hard mean blues based album packed
with influences from the likes of Mountain, Groundhogs, Hardstuff to more underground
70s bands like Fanny Adams and Blackfeather that is some of the names that pops
up while listening to the album especially Mountain some of the tracks on this
record is very compareable to the early Mountain records and like the mentioned
bands Half Man is affected with a strong blues overdose abuse with great string
arrangements and good use of the harmonica along with great percussions.
The production is also sounding very early 70s based. If this album had been
released in the early 70s Half Man would have had the same legacy as November,
Life and Neon Rose but now its 2000 and Half Man have received the attention
they need and they have plenty of good things to offer in the next years, beside
the releases of this one and the split they are also included on various compilations.
